Case submitted by J.W. Stokkermans, OD, PhD

A 16 y/o hispanic male presents with immediate vision loss OS after being hit in the eye by the elbow of a friend 48 hours prior. The patient has never had an eye exam in the past. Uncorrected visual acuity is 20/20 OD, 20/200 OS, not improved with pinhole and the patient has an afferent pupillary defect OS. Cover test shows a left exotropia and hypertropia while extra-ocular motility is full. The patient is healthy and not taking any medication. Slit lamp examination and intra-ocular pressure are normal. Retinal examination shows lesions at different layers of the retina without vitritis.
