(This DGR case requires a VBScript-compatible browser to work optimally. You should either be using Microsoft Internet Explorer, or Netscape equipped with the NCompass ScriptActive plug-in. The answer can be viewed via straight HTML, as well... see the link at the end of the case history.)
A long-time patient, a 69 y/o white male presents with his wife. He states that the vision in both eyes is blurry, with a "blind spot" in the center of the right eye.
His records from just 10 months previous showed 20/20 vision OU with mild correction. That was his last post-op visit following bilateral cataract extraction with IOL implantation. No ocular health problems were present at that time.
No significant personal or family history of eye or systemic disease was reported.
Best corrected vision is CF at 3' in the right eye, 20/200 in the left.
There is a positive afferent pupil defect in the left eye.
Anterior chamber is normal.
Cornea is normal.
Motilities are normal.
IOP is 8 mmHg OU.
Dilated fundus examination shows the appearance seen here in the attached photo.
