This patient had a non-proliferative salmon patch directly in the macular secondary to sickle cell disease. These lesions usually occur in the periphery, making this a very unusual presentation. When asked specifically about sickle cell disease, the patient responded that she indeed had been diagnosed with sickle cell. In fact, she reported a sickle cell crisis had taken place three years earlier immediately following a miscarriage. The patient was simply monitored, with a final acuity of 20/20 being reached after four months.
