Digital Grand Rounds - Case #81Clinical Photo![]()
History / Objective DataCase #81A 28-y/o white female presents with complaints of distorted, wavy vision in the right eye as well as diplopia for the last three days. She has no history of eye problems other than myopia, for which she wears soft contact lenses. The patient is currently taking Humibid (guaifensesin) for a cough, as well as birth control pills. She reports no significant family or personal medical history. Visual acuity with her contact lenses is 20/30 in the right eye and 20/25 in the left. Extraocular muscle motilities are full and smooth in all fields of gaze. The pupils are equal and round, and react normally to light and accommodation. Slit lamp biomicroscopy discloses healthy anterior segment structures. Applanation tonometry yields pressures of 16mm Hg in each eye. A dilated fundus exam reveals a serous detachment in the macular area of the right eye. Fluorescein angiography displays scattered changes in that area as well. (The large white area between the disk and the macular is reflection only, an artifact. What is this condition?
