CIBA Vision Ophthalmics Digital Grand Rounds

Answer/Discussion

The patient has a retinal arterial aneurysm with lipid ring and subsequent macular edema. There was some discussion that this might actually be a retinal telangiectasia, but the rapid filling on angiography and the lipid ring more strongly supports an aneurysm.

The area of leakage was treated with an Argon laser and the patient was reappointed for dilated follow-up in two months. The case is still in progress. This patient was also referred to an internist for HTN work-up.

See you next time...
