This is a typical appearance for Cytomegalovirus retinopathy and it
often spreads out along one of the temporal arcades. The rapid weight
loss should have been the major hint of what's going on here.
AIDS-related retinopathy is a constantly changing clinical picture,
with new treatment scenarios emerging, and ever-improving 'cocktails'
and the like to help prevent or slow the downward slide of these
patients. Once Cytomegalovirus retinopathy has surfaced, the patient
is severely compromised.
