Ok... here's a weird one. Most of you probably will not have seen one of these, but we're going to through it at you anyway. Dr. Robert McClenathan of Lancaster, PA is responsible for this brain buster, so blame him. (Thanks, Robert!)
A twelve year old white male presented to the office with complaints of reduced vision. His parents said he had just recently begun mentioning the reduction in vision. They reported that he was in a special school and had significant learning diabilities. The child had several marked facial lesions and was slow in responding to subjective testing.
Extra-ocular muscle evaluation was normal.
Biomicroscopy was normal; no cataract or corneal opacities were found.
IOP was checked... and was normal.
Uncorrected vision, OD 20/100, OS 20/200.
Significant myopia was found, as well as astigmatism in each eye. Best corrected vision was 20/30-2 in the right eye, 20/40+ in the left with a -1.00-1.50x85 OD, and -1.75-1.25x95 refractions shown, OD and OS respectively.
Dilated fundus examination revealed large, dilated vasculature as seen in the photo here.
What condition is present?
Thanks!
Walt Mayo, OD
