CIBA Vision Ophthalmics - Digital Grand Rounds

Digital Grand Rounds Program - Answer/Discussion

The patient was diagnosed with Chlamydia, which should be suspected any time you are presented with a young patient who has a nonclearing red eye. Chlamydia patients typically have follicles, preauricular node, and subepithelial infiltrates scattered more superiorly. Typical treatment consists of one of the following regimens: Azithromycin 1g (one administration is all that is needed), Oral Doxycyline 100mg BID for 21 days, or Tetracycline, 250mg QID for 21 days.

See you next time!
